Agreed. I recently saw the first episode of “Smallville” again, to relive that apocalyptic meteor shower, which hasn’t aged at all.
Tom Welling was an absolutely perfect choice.
Well as a child of the 70s and with Superman having been my first interaction with any super hero, Christopher Reeve will always be my Superman. Just as Gene Hackman will always be the greatest criminal mind of his time for me. I’m not saying they are best or worst or whatever, just that they will always be the ones for me.
Just the same as Lou Ferrigno will always be my Hulk and Lynda Carter will always be my Wonder Woman and heck we could even go as far as saying Dirk Benedict will always be my Starbuck.
I’ve liked and enjoyed all of the people playing all these characters over the years in remakes and reboots, but those that make an impact on your youth will always be fondest in your memory, especially as you get older.
There is the stage of teenage Clark and adult Clark…
as for the former….ehhhh maybe just maybe…. but for the adullt Clark.as the mild mannered reporter…absolutely NOT!!!
I think we always bond to the actor from our childhoods. Cavill was the first one since Reeves that I really felt fit my ideal. It took me a while, but I warmed up to Tyler Hoechlin and realized that he was perfect for a tv show and Cavill would not have played THAT part as well. Routh did a great job completing Reece’s series in Returns. I never watched Lois and Clark. I think they all bring something to the table. Agree that Michael Rosenbaum was an amazing Lex. John Schneider was fantastic as Jonathan Kent.
Tom Welling would be the next choice for superman after Cavill. I would have made Welling first choice if they had offered him the role but Cavill acquitted himself well in the role.
Henry Cavill was not great as Clark. He wasn’t even a good Clark. Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh ( who basically played the same Clark/Superman as Christopher Reeve) are the best Representation of Clark Kent. Tom Welling, well someone else in the comment said it better, only by the End of Smalville Tom created the Persona of Clark Kent but he Was Superman the entire show, the issue is he didn’t went with the name Superman, but just Clark. Still I’ll put Tom above Henry and Tyler on the best Clark debate.
100% agree. But that’s also due to being given 10 years to really delve deep into the character. That and they weren’t afraid of who Clark Kent and Superman are. He’s a little cheesy, he’s a bit dorky, but he’s always hopeful and kind.
Some things don’t need to be fixed and unfortunately Henry got the short end of the stick.
And yes, Rosenbaum is easily the best Lex put to screen.
https://fandomwire.com/not-henry-cavill-or-christopher-reeve-another-actor-is-the-best-clark-kent-dc-ever-had/
Yeah I could agree with that
For the high school Clark Kent, yes. For the adult, probably not.
Tom Welling was a great high school age Clark, but freaking Michael Rosenbaum is the best Lex of any age or generation.
Tom Wellington would be an amazing Superman…
Cavill is a great actor but once you get past the “he looks like superman” factor you realize that it’s realy not his best role.

The best Lois Lane was Terri Hatcher. Not that it really matters anymore. The genre is spent.
I think it’s funny because Tom Welling refused to ever wear the Superman costume.
I think he might be my favorite Clark, but he’s not the best superman.
The best Clark Kent was indeed not Henry Cavill and certainly not Christopher Reeve. But not Tom Welling either. The best Clark Kent was Dean Cain!

He was a really good Clark Kent and Michael Rosenbaum is my favorite Lex.

He was the best “young clark kent”
Michael Rosenbaum is the best Lex Luthor there will ever be.
Henry Cavill is the best superman
I agree. Tom was very good in the role. I loved watching Smallville.
You are on crack….Christopher reeves 100%

Actually he was acting as Superman the whole series. And only in the end when he put on those glasses, he started acting like the Clark Kent we know.
Tyler Hoechlin is the best Clark Kent.
Tom Welling would be the next choice for superman after Cavill. I would have made Welling first choice if they had offered him the role but Cavill acquitted himself well in the role.
Loved both Tom and Henry
Christopher Reeve is my favourite! Nothing will change that!
Ummm…. no.
I loved Tom in smallville. Was great.
Worst superman, worst Clark Kent. Maintaining his lonely demeanor. He thinks he’s more handsome that way.
I didn’t like him. He smiled too much.
Definitely best Clark.
This show was awesome…
I agree. George Reeves was the best Clark Kent.
Fandomwire… that’s enough to dismiss the claims. Besides everyone knows that Dean Cain was a much better Superman than Tom Welling.
He is the best Clark Kent
Ere, nope.
Smallville rocks #TomWelling #smallville
I loved Smallville, but Henry Cavill is my favourite superman.
No, he’s YOUR favorite.
I couldn’t watch “Smallville” the first couple of seasons. I called it “Superboy 90210”
Imo the best Clark is Tyler.
Is that Dean Kane?!!
Why has Dean Cain been forgotten? He was a great Clark Kent and Superman.
He was amazing

We technically have never had a bad casting of Superman . Its crazy when you think about it. Its just the studio makes dumb decisions.
Absolutelly true – that is the BEST KLARK ever
reeves and route were good
Dean Cain
He is amazing.

Reeve, now, then and always.
He didn’t play Superman. He played The Blur The Red Blue Blur.
