Maybe you’re supposed to imagine it blended to a pulp, and then halved. I’d like to see the blender the scientists used to come up with this unit of measure
Maybe I can help explain: Imagine the giraffe cut into 2 equal sized pieces. Now throw away one of the pieces and you’re left with a piece half the size of a giraffe.
wouldn’t that be called a meteorite? or did they change the term for rocks that enter the atmosphere? I thought asteroids were the ones out in space orbiting the sun. 🤔
To be fair, it’s the media outlets reporting on the story that are to blame. The scientists would have used meters to describe the size of this object.
Much better than say: “the size of a house”

I had a pet giraffe once, very cheap to look after. Food went a long way.
And why a giraffe?
Why not an inanimate object? ‘the size of a beanbag chair’…the size of a Hot dog cart
Why say half a giraffe? Why not just say the size of a moose?
Better yet – the size of a Subaru outback…..
And which coast… and which Earth? Hate teaser articles.
Yes. Everyone knows the accepted unit of measurement for asteroids, or any space rocks really, is fridges.
You can tell this post was by an American. They’d use any unit of measure, except the metric system. Lol
And how do you associate such an animal for size? And in weird reference to Iceland?
Maybe I can help explain: Imagine the giraffe cut into 2 equal sized pieces. Now throw away one of the pieces and you’re left with a piece half the size of a giraffe.
They could have just said the size of a horse. Definitely don’t use actual metrics or anything like that.
Was this reported by an American? We will do anything to avoid metric system. Now we use giraffes as a unit of measure.

Well the left side of a giraffe is probably comparable to the right side. Each is a half…. what’s the problem?
This happened in March. Asteroid 2022-EB5 was reported to be approximately 10 ft wide – or about 3.05 meters. That’s a fat giraffe.
Must mean halfed along it’s centre line
Omg how big is a giraffe is it male or female. Is a mature giraffe or just a baby. Omfg I am so scared now!
They really will use anything for measuring except metric…… 🙄🤔🤣🤣
Further proof that the English will use anything to avoid the metric system.

On behalf of Americans, we will use literally anything other than the metric system.
It’s about time the Giraffe become a standard unit of astrological measurement.
It’s a giraggital section
0.5 giraffe…or more accurately, 106.92 honey badgers
The units of measurement, ascending –
Small dog, dog, big dog, horse, giraffe, elephant, Wales.
The asteroid is affe the size of a giraffe. 👍🏻
Would you believe a turtle size?
Right down the middle, Caitie. Right down the middle.
