  1. Since I first heard of Guzman’s casting, I have agreed that he looks the most like Charles Addams’ original drawings of the character, and have had absolutely no problem with that side of the issue. My problem is that I’ve never thought he was a very good actor! I have nothing against him personally, and historically, he has been a great participant and advocate of cultural representation in movies. After seeing him in the show, I sadly have to stand by my evaluation. He just doesn’t have the chops to pull off such a dynamic character.
    😥

  2. It’s done. And he did it well. Honestly, the casting of Morticia and Gomez were the REASON I watched the show. And while I was watching it, I squealed with delight every time they showed up on the screen and I smiled every time, and people can debate the “shoulda coulda wouldas”, but their casting was everything my Latinx heart wanted.

  3. It is hard to forget Raúl Julia’s Gomez, for sure, even if he didn’t look like the Gomez of the comics. I’m old enough (OMG) to have seen the original Addams Family movies when they came out, and he was always such a draw. In a sense, he’s ruined me for Gomez and while I see why Guzmán is well cast in this part, I can’t help but miss the sexy smolder and humor Julia brought to the screen. As others have pointed out, though, this show is about Wednesday, so no matter who they cast as Gomez, I’ll be back for Season 2!

  4. Are the people complaining the same people who thought that Wednesday’s dance moves changed the world and seemingly all of pop culture as we know it, when all she did was a little fun dance?? Because those people have too much time on their hands and apparently very little excitement in their lives

  5. Having zero knowledge of anything but the original films, it was abit jarring not to see the latin lover version this time.
That being said, I thought he did alright, if not amazing with the limited screen time he got, the show is focusing on Wednesday.
I’m sure if given more screen time, with the right script, he’ll do a fine job.
Most of the time, the script is the most important thing for whether an actor lives up to the role of not.
With the odd exceptions, when it seems an actor was born for the role, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Downing Jr as Tony Stark, etc.

  6. Not a fan of the casting for ether of the parents. No on screen chemistry or fire. I’ve never read the original comic and not sure about the accuracy, I was just happy they where only really in one ep. Happy for the fans who love them, I just lost interest in their characters the moment their lifeless acting hit the screen.

  7. The constant butthurt about this got real old before Wednesday was even released, he’s not supposed to be like the suave handsome Gomez that Raul played, he’s supposed to be the slimy dumpy Gomez as drawn in the Comics.
Don’t get me wrong I loved the 90s movies but this isn’t a continuation of that, this is a new version of the story based on the Comics.

  8. Perfect casting in my opinion! Just a bunch of tossers looking for something the whinge about. Any other time they would all be whingeing because they strayed from the source material, this time, for the first time, they got it spot on!

  9. I loved Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Not a fan at all of the parents. The mom was not Hot or seductive at all… and thought I actually like the actor who played gomez he only has 1 character and voice and it definitely not Gomez

  10. I think it’s a good to have a Puerto Rican actor you don’t see too many in Hollywood, the one who played Gomez in the movies was Puerto Rico God rest his soul.

  11. Fans who have read particularly books and who know the TV show had Charles approval keep pointing out the mistakes. There is no debate, there’s a demand to fix the show to fit the actual family
