Rick Moranis declined to return to the “Ghostbusters” franchise for the new movie “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” despite being offered a substantial amount. Ernie Hudson shared that despite efforts from the team and higher financial incentives, Moranis chose not to reprise his role as Louis Tully, continuing his long hiatus from acting since 2006.

Actor Rick Moranis, known for “Ghostbusters” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” was randomly attacked by a stranger Thursday while walking in New York City’s Upper West Side.
The attack occurred in broad daylight, just before 7:30 a.m. on Central Park West near 70th Street, the New York Police Department said.
Video taken from surveillance cameras show the suspect walk toward Moranis, 67, and punch him in the head, knocking him to the ground.
I feel like Ernie gets the short end of the stick a lot. I love Ernie. I finally watched the Melissa McCarthy Ghostbusters for the first time the other night and all I wanted to see was Ernie’s cameo. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd, too. I also love Annie Potts, but I mainly wanted to see Ernie. He just seems like a nice person in real-life.
Thank you for writing an informative headline that is not some rubbish click bait. I will read the link if only for your ethical online publishing. Was interesting as well.
He made a decision to leave acting to raise his children after losing their mother. His career has been great, and he was very blessed. I assume he doesn’t need the money, and is happy with where he’s at and the decision he made.
He has enough, he made enough and is happy enough to NOT have to continue . He knew when to walk away. My guess…..he seen some shiz and was like…..yeah this ain’t for me 👋🏻 Dark Helmet for life
I want him to one day come out with an autobiographical film starring himself, and explaining his transition to full time father. The guy is a silent super hero story I think, and I think an old Rick Moranis hitting us with a serious role about his wife’s passing… if you left dry eyed you’d be a monster lol.
All that aside hope he’s enjoying retirement. Seems like a great guy.

I hope one day I’m rich enough that someone can offer me a “substantial amount” to act in a movie and I’m like “naw i’m good”.
He’s retired, leave the man alone.
It’s going to be a box office bomb and is poorly reviewed anyway so why come back for that?
Omg shocking he was in 1 movie and kinda eh a main
Happily doing his thing with family. Can’t blame him for avoiding the weirdos in Hollywood
It was a decent movie. And remember he retired because his wife died and he spent the time raising his 2 kids
The last I heard, he was done with acting and now is a country singer.
You know when somebody says they’re retired they usually stick with it
It’s a shame but it’s what he wants :/
Too bad he couldn’t have done a quick cameo or end credits scene for them..
Maybe acting for him is like smoking, alcohol, crack etc. It’s addictive and if he gives in he’ll be dragged into a lifestyle he no longer wants.
He took the time off to raise his kids… Good for him!
If he doesn’t want to act anymore why try to force him into it?
Rick Moranis left acting to raise his kids after his wife died from cancer. He has no need to justify why he doesn’t want to return. ♥️
If he ever does return to the big screen – I will pay to see him in it 💯👍🏾
He did appear in a Bob and Doug McKenzie commercial a few years ago.

There’s nothing wrong with asking him, just like there’s nothing wrong with him declining.
We still love you Rick! Would have been great to see him though.
He owes fans nothing. He deserves to live his life as he sees fit.
He’s been focused on his family, I think his wife passed so he raised the kids..
When you get to a comfortable wealth and you are concentrating on your family why get diverted.
Money is means to an end not the Ends.

He will never return…give it up

He gave up acting to be with his family, didn’t he.
If you don’t need to then why bother?

I miss him in movies but I don’t blame him for not wanting to come back to Hollyweird
I’m pretty sure he made the decision so that he could be a Hands-On father; more important than anything Hollywood would have to offer! 💖💖💖
