The director of “The Mummy” has addressed rumors that Brendan Fraser nearly died on set, stating that these claims are greatly exaggerated. This clarification comes amid a resurgence of interest in the film and its production stories, underscoring the often dramatic tales surrounding Hollywood filmmaking.

So…. he said, he said, although sounds a bit like Sommers is defending his film set. Long time ago, who knows. Too bad it was just those two and no one else around to clarify 😏
So… this director took advantage of a team player, let things go to far, then blames his employees… who he criticizes for “not understanding” how the stunt worked, people who are neither stunt-man or medically trained. Don’t trust him to direct stunts properly. Period.

And if that was the case the director shouldn’t have allowed that to happen to begin with ……I find his reasoning very flawed
I am sure that the mishap with the noose and hanging scene was not his own fault!!
Anything that happens on a film set is a director’s responsibility
