CBR explores how “Madame Web” on Netflix has successfully challenged the notion of superhero fatigue. The film’s unique approach and fresh perspective on the superhero genre have captivated audiences on Netflix, proving that innovative storytelling can revitalize interest in superhero content despite the oversaturation of the market — and a less than steller run in theaters.

It means I didn’t want to pay extra to see it vs seeing on something I’m already paying for. The movie was horrific and glad I didn’t give them my money
Theater Box office is a fickle beast, clearing $500 million on opening weekend isn’t “better” than $70 million in 1980. They should actually count number of tickets sold instead.
Maybe now just hear me out the movie wasn’t theater quality and that is whybit failed. Since the pandemic all the studios have put out tv quality offerings for theater releases. The audiences want more for the price of going out than what they would get on their home theaters.
This proves nothing at all. I waited until it came to a streaming service, i already had, to watch it. I didn’t go to a theater nor did I rent it. I watched it because it was raining out. The movie was not very good…but had some potential.
It’s not a bad movie and if you go in knowing you won’t see Spiderman but see other ones form the same universe it’s not as bad of a movie as some are saying. Sure it might not be great but a lot of movies aren’t great to many only great to some like lame Titanic 😆
Viewing numbers mean nothing without knowing if the audience enjoyed the experience and want to see more, I saw this movie in cinema for free and I still want a refund for my time
I like Superhero movies but with so many critics trashing it, I wasn’t about to go to theaters to watch a movie I might not enjoy. Watching it on Netflix was simply the better choice for me, a person who does not have money to watch every movie that comes out in theaters.
Oh I’ll tell you the message. Your movie has to be exceptional for people to go see it in the theater because they’re not going to waste their time or their money The only reason people went to go see it on Netflix was because they’re already paying for Netflix for other things and since they’re already paying for it they might as well check it out.
When something has such terrible reviews from online critics people are naturally curious and they’re going to want to see Just how bad it is. but they’re not willing to pay for it either out of budgetary concerns or spite… However they are is that curiosity to check it out and see for themselves.
This is the same Micron thin surface level analysis that caused Sony to release morbius for a second time in the theaters. Just because people are fascinated by a car crash, doesn’t mean we should try to make more car crashes
I already pay monthly for Netflix why wouldn’t I watch it..? They shouldn’t determine success with their views but instead with the amount of likes or dislikes on the movie.
I got to see this in theaters for free! And I still wanted a refund after seeing it. It really was that bad😭 it had a great concept but sooooo poorly executed
This is pure cope. People are already paying for Netflix. This movie is now playing on Netflix. People heard this movie was terrible (it is). So they’re watching it to see how bad it is. Pretty simple. If it was a stream rent or buy like on Prime, no one would pay extra to watch it.
Its one thing when good movies get missed at the Cinema like The Fall Guy or Furiousa, but That movie was awful. It’s only being seen to see just how awful it is. If they are taking that this movie is actually successful after that they have another thing coming.
It felt like a knockoff Spiderman movie mixed with a bunch of marvel inserts. Even the costumes look way to similar to alternate Spiderman costumes. And why did she turn into professor x at the end.
It was horrible.

I don’t believe that’s the correct narrative concerning this show.
People saw it bc it was free. End of story.
Sony should release their garbage on streaming
People wanting to watch a car crash when it’s free isn’t a success 🤣
I liked it. I loved how it tied in with Spiderman.

It was terrible. Just when something finally started to happen it went off. It was like a soap opera.

I watched it on netflix… I am very glad I didn’t go to the cinema to watch it, lack luster acting from the start

Loved Madame Web. Would’ve liked a tie-in to the larger superhero universe other than the maternal ward, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

But they won’t specifically pay to see it.
I own every spiderman movie on disk, even morbius. This movie was so bad I couldn’t even pick it up for the sake of a full collection.
Ive recommended this to everyone. 1/10. Fascinating how boring it is. You need to witness it!

Yes, the 1st watch because it’s free, you wanna know if we liked it, track multiple watches. I won’t see again even though it’s free.

I tried to watch it. Made it half way. It is horrible
